Gaur numbers in the wild are dwindling and gaurs living in zoos like these have difficulty reproducing, which led researchers to search for another way to protect the species.

This scientific research team captured the last remaining bucardo mountain goat, named ‘Celia’, to obtain live bucardo cells in order to cultivate and freeze them for future cloning efforts and to put a radio-tracking collar onto her neck. The researchers blindfolded Celia to shield her eyes from the photographer’s flash.
